WorldFindr is a free geography quiz and exploration platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using WorldFindr, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

If you create an account:

• Your email address
• Your display name
• Your profile photo (if you sign in with Google and have one)
• Account creation date

When you play games:

• Game mode, score, accuracy, and streak for each session
• Countries you have correctly identified on the map
• Date and time of each game played

Automatically, in your browser:

• Game preferences (default difficulty, sound settings) stored in your browser's localStorage — this data never leaves your device

We do not collect your IP address, location, device information, or browsing behaviour beyond what is described above.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected solely to provide the features of WorldFindr:

• To display your stats, progress, and game history on your profile page
• To track geography progress across continents and countries
• To enable your account to persist across devices and sessions

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the service. We do not sell your data to any third party.

3. Data Storage and Third-Party Services

WorldFindr uses Google Firebase (a Google LLC service) to store account information and game data. By registering, your data is stored on Firebase servers. Firebase's own privacy policy applies: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

If you sign in with Google, Google's authentication service is used. Google may process your login credentials according to their privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

Game preferences are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage and are never transmitted to any server.

4. Data Retention

Your account and associated game data are retained for as long as your account exists. If you wish to have your data deleted, contact us (see section 7) and we will remove your account and all associated data within 30 days.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correction — update your display name or email via your account settings
• Deletion — request that your account and all data be permanently deleted
• Portability — request your game data in a readable format

6. Children's Privacy

WorldFindr is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top. Continued use of WorldFindr after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
